Objectives of the Institute
The main objectives of the Institute are:
1. To act as a "think-tank" to monitor developing practices of Boards of Directors and Committees of Boards in the Americas and overseas to evolve standards of best practice of leadership especially middle management leadership.
2. To undertake and promote research into Americas and overseas systems of legal and self-regulation of corporate governance including the market for corporate control and the relationship to leadership.
3. To undertake research into the growth and significance of different concentrations of leadership including executive management leadership and middle management leadership and the impact on corporate governance.
4. To study the differing corporate governance needs of listed public corporations, proprietary companies and corporate entities and the link between corporate governance and performance.
5. To carry out research on methods of measuring performance and accountability and of motivating and rewarding directors and other corporate officers.
6. To study ways of improving communications within corporations including emerging information technology (in particular the Internet) and the impact on corporate governance.
7. To promote alternative dispute resolution of corporate disputes with special reference to the needs of resolving conflicts in leadership.
8. To study patterns of middle management leadership in combating deviance and achieving greater accountability.
9. To promote coherent reform of corporate governance and the Art of Leading Quietly.
10. To foster links with directors and management of public and private enterprise, and of public and private agencies, at home and abroad, involved in corporate governance, and with members of professions involved directly or indirectly in corporate governance.
How the Objectives are Achieved
The Institute achieves its objectives by the following means:
· Innovative Specialist Programs.
· The introduction of teaching programs at the corporate level. The Institute will also conduct short course programs tailored to the needs of clients, be they major corporate, small businesses or overseas agencies requiring such.
· Specialist Middle Management Programs
· The Institute has five middle manager leadership programs focused on creating centers of leadership excellence.
· National Road shows and In-House Seminars
· The Institute organizes short courses, seminars and conferences in the major cities in the Americas. The Institute aims to be client driven and will give seminars for management and boards at the corporate headquarters or site locations of clients.
· Participation in Middle Management Initiatives
· The Institute has links to other major overseas corporate leadership initiatives particularly in the Australia, Europe and South East Asia.
